DJI GO 4 is using about 1/2 of my battery. Cutting the battery life in half.

It used about 1 GB of my data service in the last 3 weeks.

It's filled my Android with files, huge number of files have been created every time I fly.

So I stop the DJI GO 4 when ever I'm not using it.

Not familiar with droids but on iPhones you can disable cellular data use for any single app and monitor the usage of each app. The only time you really need data or wifi is to synchronize your flights to your account or download local maps. Neither use much data.

Android it's the same.

If you use wifi, then the cellular data is not available (would be nice to get maps) , at least on my S6 phone and tab S2.
If you use OTG cable, then maybe it is swapped and your phone is charging the RC. The host part of OTG should be on RC.

Best solution to both the battery drain as well as the data is to use a firewall and block everything from the Go app when you're not using it.

There is a HUGE amount of communicating that it does with inet servers not only when running, but when it's not running as well (closed!)!.
