HI All,

I am from Germany.

I have a spark since 2 years and love flying it.

with the new EU Rules I would like to know in which category will the spark fit

1. Do I need to pass an online exam?

Drone Insurance + Tag is a must

If anyone onboard from Germany please help.

My German is not that fluent hence I am finding it hard to navigate through the German website lbv.de

Hi, Thaddeus,

The rules are the same in all EU countries and the UK, so you should be able to check a national operator in whichever European language you prefer - perhaps http://www.inac.pt/

The Spark is classed as a 'Legacy' aircraft, which means

-With foundation training - the short, free training, you can fly in class A3. In the UK this is the training that was already required to fly a Spark.
-With an A2 Certificate of Competency - a longer training session and a longer exam (fees from GBP60 upwards) you can fly in Class A1 and A2 subcategories until 31 Dec 2022 only.

In the Netherlands, you do the online course for A1 A3 and need to register as a drone pilot( 23 euros).
The online course is free of charge in Ireland ;) but valid in all EU.
Spark is in the A1 category for now. but after 31 dec 2022 it is in A3
