I will wait until I see some positive influence from the AMA on drones.

Still, would love to fly out at Lake Meade AMA field on the edge of the lake...

To get back to the original poster, if all you want to do is fly in the back yard try flying with just the Spark and controller only, do not run the DJI GO 4 app. The Spark is placed in a geo fence. I couldn't find any info on exactly what the operating restrictions are for this configuration but from my experience it seems like it's around 30 feet high by maybe 100 feet or away. I believe it also puts the Spark in Atti mode so this is a good way to learn how to control it instead of P-mode.
