OTG or not to OTG?

Anyone have an issue when using OTG & changing batteries? I have to restart the remote and app every time. Without the OTG it's a quick process.... Didn't know if there was a trick...

It's not a misleading conclusion, it's MY conclusion, which may help other users.

And sorry for the page, but people in here must know how this works, because many users think that just using an otg cable, they will solve poor range and disconnection problems.

My guy feeling tells met OTG is the way to go, however, since I put my Spark in FCC mode, I haven’t had any glitch disconnects and my experience is the same as yours; flying non OTG is just so quick and easy that I don’t bother putting the cable in anymore. However, if you do feel insecure about flyaways and video streaming reliabitu, OTG could help you.

Yes, it isn't a black-or-white only subject, and that was my point.
I use otg cable when I need it, but wireless is easier and more convenient.
If your smartphone is 5.8g capable, or you have no disconnection problems flying in 5.8g (as in FCC mode), you don't need an otg cable.

Cable connection are not always"better" than wireless one. It depends on the streaming bandwidth we want, the number of simultaneous connections, the ease of use, the flexibility and portability, etc. In everyday life, most of us, use more wireless services than wired.

Use otg with care. Make sure that it IS an otg special cable, and remember that it has polarity. You cannot exchange cable's edges, between controller and smartphone.
If you're in CE area, check FCC mode, before buying an otg cable.

Ive been using OTG recently hoping I might see more clearly where Im going, but the jurys still out as to whether the image is clearer image on the mobile device,

Recently did a comparison between the OTG cable vs WiFi. During my WiFi flight, there was video lag and unstable FPV, even in a rural area outside of the city.

Once I switched back to my usual OTG cable, the video transmission issue and latency/lag was completely gone. It really is a night and day difference. I absolutely hate WiFi connectivity with drones. It’s an archaic and obsolete technology that limits the performance of UAV’s.
