Controller to phone connection

So I bought a used DJI Spark and controller yesterday and I am trying to get all set up. I have followed a few tutorials but no joy.

So I can connect the spark to the controller direct but cannot connect my phone to the controller. I cannot get past stage 3 of the set up process. It telst me to scan the QR code or enter manually and nothing works. I am having real problems.

Can anyone help.
My phone is a Motorola G5 with Android 7.0.

If you can find controller's WiFi, connect your phone with it, open DJI go 4 app, and you are ready to fly.
I think default password is 12341234.
