Easy Spark Remote Controller mod to fit iPad Mini 2

I was flying my Spark with my phone, but I had an iPad Mini 2 which fit on an Mavic Air controller just fine, but the grips on the Spark would not open quite wide enough. So I used my side grinder and trimmed back the restricting plastic just a bit on each side of the remote control and voila! the iPad Mini 2 fits nicely. A small Dremel tool would work well as I did scratch up the side of my remote a bit with the bigger grinder, but it is strictly a cosmetic problem only.

It takes a little pushing, but you can install the iPad Mini without any mod to controller if you pivot the grips away from controller so jaws are more parallel.

Hello from the Hoosier Heartland NOLADG.

I think there were two different batches of remotes in the beginning.
I had seen a video on YouTube showing the difference between the two.

Here is my IPad mini4 in the remote when I got it in July 2017.

No modifications needed on this one.

I don't fly with the mini4 in the handles now because I use a tablet holder, but it is an option.

I would suggest a neck lanyard like this one.

I have one that I used and it worked great as a lifeline to protect your investment.
