I Pad no cellular?

Yes, you won't be able to do active tracking since you need a "cellular" device although it doesn't have to be active but it will only leverage the GPS chip. Without that you can still use it to do everything else.

Huh? I don't understand what you are saying here. I use an iPhone 6plus that does not have a SIM (no cellular) and I can still have my Spark active track fine. Active track doesn't use the phone's GPS or cellular remember...you circle the target that is being tracked and it visually tracks. Maybe you are thinking of "follow me mode" like the Mavics?

Yeah sorry yes whichever one is the one that uses GPS to follow you.

If I use an I pad wifi no cellular is that OK?
The biggest con to using a Wi-Fi only device (or a device where the cellular service is deactivated) is that you won't be able to use features that require an Internet connection. For example, that means you will not be able to download the maps in real-time. You could cache the maps in DJI GO like this if you need to use them. Or you could setup a hotspot on a mobile phone and connect your iPad to that Wi-Fi network (which will share the Internet connection).

The Spark does not have the Follow Me flight mode. GPS on the mobile device can only be used to reset the home point to your current location.

Thanks for the link for some off-line maps guidance. I realized it was referencing Phantoms and M-Pros, however. With my Spark I use the Hauwei X2 running Andriod 7.0, and Go4 v. 4.2.6.

Off-line maps isn't available from the Go4 menu. However I was able to follow the Google Maps offline maps download procedure. I have it stored on the SD card. Do you know ifl Spark/Go4 recognize that map?

Yep, without cellular, only a map with the homepoint your current waypoint and NO physical references what-so-ever.

Can the ipad link to your cellphone while flying like a hot spot?
You may be able to if using OTG, but Wifi won't connect to two places at once.

You could try Bluetooth tethering, but DJI and others strongly advise turning off BT when using Spark.

Bluetooth uses the 2.4 ghz band. It’s the reason it can interfere with the connection between the device and the RC. And highly advised to switch it off.
Unless you do like our friends in the EU and connect the OTG to your device to be able to use the 2.4 band on the Spark for flying.

Yep. The Spark runs the same version of DJI GO, so that information also applies to the Spark.

It's not available in all versions of DJI GO. As noted in that post, you can roll back to DJI GO 4.1.15 to access that feature.

Thank you. I was hoping that "something" changed with 4.2.6 :-)
I guess I'll go back to using my iPad mini.
